You put your own padlock on the door and you keep the keys ensuring that only you have access to your goods.

Who holds the keys to the locker?
A padlock is ideal for the lock for your storage locker, you can buy one from us or provide your own, either way you are the only one who holds the key.

Can anyone else gain access to my storage unit?
Only people who have been authorised in writing and been given the key can gain access to your unit.

Can I come and look at the storage units before I rent one?
Yes, of course, it is always a good idea to come and see our facility before you rent a unit.

None, you may call today and store today if you wish. There is no charge to reserve a storage room.

What about insurance?
All goods stored should be insured. We can arrange this for you on the day you move in all we will need is the true replacement value of goods. You may also choose to arrange your own insurance. It is important to remember that if you choose not to insure your goods stored with us we accept no liability for loss or damage to them.

Do you have free car parking facilities at your unit?
Yes, you can park free of charge right outside. We also have space inside to load/unload if required.

What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash, debit card, credit card, cheque or direct debit for initial payments and direct debit for recurring payments.

Depending on your length of stay advanced payment may be weekly, monthly, quarterly or bi-annually.

Do I have to give you notice to leave?
We require fourteen days notice of your intention to vacate your unit. We must have notice given in writing. Your deposit and any unused hire charges will be refunded, less any outstanding amounts once you have vacated the unit.

Can I change to a larger or smaller locker if I need to?
Yes, you are welcome to move to a unit of a different size at any time. Transfers are subject to availability.

Are there any extras I need to know about?
Hartley Storage prices include storage charges, utility bills, security and maintenance costs. You need to provide a padlock to secure the unit. You may also want to provide insurance for your goods, if your existing insurance policy does not cover then you can choose to be insured by our provider which is designed for goods that are in storage. You also need to provide a deposit which is equal to four weeks storage charge

How do I pack my storage room?
Put heavier and larger items on the bottom and the lighter boxes on the top of these. Remember to put any items you may need to access nearer the door.

You will have to sign our storage agreement, this is a quick and easy process.

No, you can come in and reserve a unit right away.

What do I need to bring in if I want to rent a unit?
You need to bring in 2 forms of ID (Passport or photo driving licence and a utility bill), your 4 week rent and deposit. Please check our opening times to ensure you have plenty of time to move your goods into your storage unit.

Do you supply packing materials?
Yes, we provide a wide range of boxes, padlocks, bubble wrap and tape, please ask at reception.

How can I get goods from my vehicle to the storage unit?
There are trolleys available for customers to use free of charge.

Can you receive items on my behalf?
Yes , we can receive items on your behalf by prior arrangement , as long as it is within standard opening hours. We will need your consent in writing. You will be responsible for the goods being placed into your storage locker.

You can book a storage unit up to 6 months in advance.

What can I store?
You can store almost anything! As long as it isn't flammable, perishable, illegal or hazardous (please see below).
